These Oreo Cookie Spiders are an easy, kid-friendly Halloween treat. Made with Oreo cookies, pretzel sticks for legs, and candy eyes, these cute spiders have their own little personality. Perfect for a Halloween party, a spooky school lunch snack, or a fun activity to do with kids, these Halloween spiders are as fun to make as they are to eat.

What we love about these Oreo Spider Cookies
I love how simple these Oreo cookies are to make! I use frosting or melted white chocolate to “glue” on the eyes, and just take off the top of the cookie to add the legs, and then replace the top cookie to finish. These are definitely easier to make with double-stuff Oreos. I have made them with regular Oreos, they they just don’t stay together as well.
Kids love helping make these, and they really are so cute! They are fun to make and eat, and they are a huge kid-friendly treat. They are perfect for Halloween parties, class treats, or after-school snacks, and I think they are adorable on a Halloween charcuterie board. The spiders with their eyes have their own little personalities and always bring a smile to those who see them.

- Pretzel sticks
- Double Stuf Oreo cookies
- Candy eyeballs
Spider Cookies with Oreos Substitutions
I know what it’s like when you don’t have everything on hand, and the last thing you want to do is run to the store and pick something up. Here are a few ideas to substitute items on the ingredients list if needed:
- You could substitute different colors or flavors of Oreos besides the traditional Oreo cookie. They don’t have to be the Oreo brand, but the double-stuff size makes placing the pretzel legs a little easier.
- Frosting flavor can vary here. You can use vanilla or cream cheese frosting, or if you don’t have any frosting on hand, I have used melted white chocolate chips.
- You could try different options for legs. Thin black licorice could work, for example. I look for the thinnest pretzel sticks I can find so they aren’t too thick for the Oreo cookie.
Step-by-step Instructions

Step 1. Place 12 Oreo cookies on a cutting board, platter, or flat food safe surface. Place the frosting or melted white chocolate in a Ziploc bag and seal, pushing out any extra air in the bag when sealing. Cut a small hole in the bottom corner, squeeze out two little dabs of frosting for the eyes and place the candy eyes on top.
Step 2. Once the eyes are in place, carefully remove the top cookie and place the halved pretzels in the filling. (I like to do 3 on each side, but you can do four.) Gently press the top Oreo in place and serve.
Tips

- I buy the thinnest pretzels I can (different brands slightly vary in size) to make sure the pretzels aren’t too thick for the cookie.
- If you decide to use melted white chocolate chips instead of frosting, put chocolate chips in a microwaveable bowl and melt the chips, heating in 15 second intervals until completely melted. Stir well in between each 15 second interval. This takes about 1-2 minutes.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can the Oreo Cookie Spiders be made in advance? |
The Oreo Spider Cookies can be made 1-2 days in advance and stored in an air-tight container at room temperature. Placing them in the fridge may cause the pretzels and cookies to soften. |
How do I store Oreo Cookie Spiders? |
a. Store cookies in an air-tight container at room temperature for one or two days. The Oreos can soften when placed in the fridge, so I recommend storing them at room temperature. I use a Tupperware container and use parchment paper to separate the layers when stacking so they don’t stick together. b. The Oreo cookies can be stored in an air-tight container and frozen for up to 3 months, but the texture of the pretzels and cookies may be slightly softer after thawing. |
