These flavorful Buffalo Honey Wings are baked and then glazed with a honey buffalo sauce that takes these wings over the top. The honey slightly mellows the hot sauce and adds amazing flavor; you really can’t eat just one. These are delicious with your favorite blue cheese or ranch dip and are the perfect addicting appetizer for Game Day or your next gathering.

What we love about these Honey Buffalo Wings
The sauce! I love the addition of honey to the sauce in these wings. The Buffalo sauce is an equal combination of hot sauce and butter and the honey rounds out the flavor. It slightly mellows the hot sauce and gives a boost of flavor without tasting sweet. It is highly addicting with these wings and a dunk in your favorite ranch or blue cheese dressing.
I have cooked wings a lot of ways, and I really love the flavor and texture when you roast them in the oven. The preparation is less than 5 minutes for the wings, you just toss them in some seasoning with a little oil and throw them in the oven. After about an hour of baking time, you add the sauce and cook at a higher temperature for a few minutes more. The sauce perfectly glazes the chicken, and the flavor combination with the sauce and chicken is simply addicting.
These are a home run for any game day party or gathering and have proven to be a favorite at our house time and again. Try our other favorite wings recipes as well! Honey Buffalo Wings Recipe Substitutions
I know what it’s like when you don’t have everything on hand and the last thing you want to do is run to the store and pick something up. Here are a few ideas to substitute items on the ingredients list if needed:
- You can omit the garlic and paprika in the chicken seasoning and just use salt and pepper to season the chicken if desired.
- You can omit the honey and you will have a slightly hotter chicken wing flavor.
- You can substitute the hot sauce and butter for a prepared buffalo wing sauce from the store.
- If you want more heat, you can also reduce the amount of butter in the sauce. I usually use the same amount of hot sauce and melted butter, but for more heat, use less butter. For less heat, use more butter.
- Different varieties of chicken could be used, drumsticks, for example, and cooked for a longer time.
Step-by-step Instructions for Buffalo Wings with Honey

Step 1. In a small bowl, whisk together salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Add oil and mix together. Pour salt mixture over wings and using a spoon or tongs, toss to ensure the chicken is evenly coated.
Step 2. Line chicken evenly in single rows on the prepared baking sheet. Bake wings for 35 minutes.

Step 3. Carefully remove from the oven, using tongs turn the wings over, and bake for an additional 20 minutes.
Step 4. While the wings bake, whisk together the hot sauce, melted butter, and honey and set aside.

Step 5. Drizzle half of the hot sauce mixture over the chicken and toss to coat. Bake the chicken at 450 degrees Fahrenheit for 4-5 minutes. Remove the chicken from the oven and baste with the sauce, turn the chicken over and baste with the sauce again on the opposite side before returning to the oven. Bake an additional 4-5 minutes on the other side. Baste with the sauce an additional time over the top of the chicken.
Step 6. Remove to a platter or individual plates, garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired, and serve with a side of ranch or blue cheese dressing.
Tips

- Instead of baking in an oven, you can cook wings in a well-coated slow cooker for 2-1/2 hours on high or 4-5 hours on low. If you cook them too long, they can fall apart. They can be checked with an oven thermometer and if they are at 165 degrees Fahrenheit they are done. Continue with step 4 of the recipe and finish with sauce in the oven.
- These USA sheet pans have been workhorses for me and work well roasting the chicken wings in this recipe.
