Welcome! So glad you are here! I’m Risa, author, content creator, and photographer for Risa’s Family Kitchen. My husband, kids and I live here in Phoenix, where we have been the last 20+ years. My kids are almost grown up with 3 now college age and one in high school which really is insane.
Our first pregnancy brought 3 at once, so chaos right from the start. Ha ha. Before they came along I had already developed a love for cooking and trying new recipes. In the back of my mind I thought culinary school would be a grand adventure but with three littles and a fourth that came when my older kids were preschoolers, there really wasn’t time. I weekly took my kids to the library when they were just little and I decided then I would check out cookbooks and teach myself new recipes and cooking techniques on my own. I literally have done that for the past 20 years, I still do it! I love cookbooks and what I learn from them. I have taken cooking classes, been involved in cooking clubs, and helped cater for small special events for friends.
About two years ago when my girls were in high school they asked if I would share our family’s favorite recipes with them when they went to college. I had honestly not thought about doing a food blog before then, but I started taking pictures of some of our favorite eats to maybe put a cookbook together for them. I was also at the time starting to think about what I would do when my triplets left home all at once! I enrolled in the Pretty Focused food photography course, became a food photographer and content creator for other bloggers, and have loved this new field of work. This fall, when my girls moved into their first apartment I realized that now was the time they really needed these recipes and with my recent background in food photography and content creating, now would be the perfect time to share our recipes with them and with YOU!
I love the feeling of having everyone at the table and eating yummy food that the whole family enjoys. We have wonderful memories of sharing food together and with extended family and friends. I know the struggle of getting food on the table every night on those busy nights when you are going everywhere at once. I also know the challenge of deciding what to serve for those special occasions and holidays with family and friends. So whether you are serving 13 high school rugby players and friends dinner on New Year’s Eve (been there, done that) or preparing food for that special high school dance (yep!), making food for a baby or bridal shower, preparing Thanksgiving dinner, cooking a fun weekend brunch or just trying to get something on the table when you only have 20 minutes to prep and eat, we are here for you!! Thanks for visiting Risa’s Family Kitchen!
